Upcoming Eco-Somatic
Expressive Arts Workshops

Join Somatic Movement Therapist Dr. Rhea Komarek, DC, RSME/T for Eco-Somatic expressive arts workshops.   Participants will be guided to move, draw, and write in response to creative prompts designed to meet the needs of both people brand new to the somatic expressive arts as well as those with more experience.  These guided prompts are designed to help augment your unique reciprocal relationship with Nature, while also getting to enjoy the collective creative surprises that will emerge through shared imagery and poetry. You will walk away with creative insights ready to support you in your life, and an affirmed sense of our shared humanity in connection to this Earth we call home.

This workshop is perfect for those:

  • Moving through transition.

  • Needing time to connect to what matters to them.

  • Seeking restoration.

       Or,..

  • Who love being in Nature.

Workshop Intentions:

  • Connect with Yourself, Community, and Nature in a new way.

  • Deepen your sense of belonging to this place, and subsequently, the land you call home.

  • Amplify your own resourcing as these themes from nature are explored and integrated (biomimicry for life).

  • Increase nervous system regulation and therefore overall wellbeing through contact with nature, somatic movement, coregulation and creativity.

Physical Accomodations:

Each workshop will include walking about 1.5 miles. Because of this, the workshop is limited to those who are able to do this. It is advised that participants are also able to get up and down from the ground, though there is one bench in the clearing where we will do much of our exploring. Somatic movements are incredibly gentle, so these are appropriate to those who have limited mobility in other ways and can be adapted to meet most people's needs.

Participant Age:

This workshop is reserved for participants who are 18 and over to make space for the sharing of adult level life material.

Group Size:

Maximum 10 Participants

The Peace of Wild Things, by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me

and I wake in the night at the least sound

in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be

I go and lie down where the wood drake

rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things

who do not tax their lives with forethought

of grief.  I come into the presence of still water.

And I feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting with their light.  For a time

I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
